The Convention

During fund-raising ceremonies, in the churches, schools and society, people are encouraged to donate. Those who have nothing with them to donate are encouraged to make pledges of whatever amount that they can donate and bring the amounts later.

It is true that money is very important in every activity or ceremony. But that should not make people to entangle themselves with pledges and vows which are promised and failed to fulfil. Many people do not pay their pledged amounts and some others do not fulfil their vows.

The Bad Situation

In many churches, ministries and fellowships, as well as in schools or other fields of human endeavour, the list of unfulfilled pledges are “endless”. In one case, a governor made promise in public of what he is going to do for the people. Later, when government staff reminded him to fulfil the promise, he said, “You should know when I am talking as a politician or as a governor”. Meaning that he did not mean what he was saying.

Several projects are uncompleted, simply because many people who pledged to donate various sums of money failed to fulfil their pledges. Some would even rebuke you for reminding them about the promised amounts, while others would do everything possible to avoid you whenever they know you are coming to collect the pledged sum. Others will give you all kinds of excuses, why they can no longer fulfil their verbal donations. And some others would become your enemy, for asking them to pay their vows.

The situation has become so bad that many people avoid attending prayers and worship in the churches where they made pledges and have not being able to fulfil the pledges. Some people have complained that the reason why they stopped attending church is because of the financial burdens being placed on the members, from time to time. Yet, there are people who are have not paid their pledges, who are still bold to make more pledges. During a fund-raising ceremony at a church, a young boy pledged a high amount, and the congregation burst into praises, dancing and rejoicing, without knowing that the same boy has not paid previous pledges.

If the people who made unfulfilled pledges did not do so, many projects should not have been started at all in the first place. Besides, when a pledge is made and unfulfilled, the angels will record it as debts against those who made the pledges. If such people do not have money or possessions here on earth, the angels go to the person’s mansion in heaven and take away whatever the person pledged or any other that worth the value of the pledged amount or items.

Ban Of Indiscriminate Pledges

Therefore, the best in every branch of DivineBase Ministry is that making pledges is not allowed. When there is the need for contributions, the list of what are needed or the amount needed shall be announced to the congregation and pasted on the notice board. Individuals shall first have what they want to donate in their hands or at home, and only come forward to submit such money or things, if it is their free will and free choice to do so. This measure will prevent the bad trend whereby, people, who are coming to DivineBase Ministry to get salvation, shall not in any way entangle themselves to the extents that they cannot enter heaven, because debtors are not allowed into the kingdom of heaven.

Conclusions

In conclusion, pledges are not allowed. Bring what you want to give God to the house of God, when you are ready to give, when the gift and offerings are ready and available with you.

Instead of asking people to make people to make pledges, encourage them to bring their gifts and offerings when they have.
